Srinagar, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has executed significant raids in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting an alleged terrorist conspiracy linked to cross-border activities. On September 12, operations were carried out in various parts of the Kashmir region, specifically in the districts of Kulgam, Bandipora, and Baramulla.
According to sources, the NIA initiated its search operations early Saturday morning at seven locations across these districts. The agency conducted two searches in Kulgam, three in Bandipora, and two in Sopore, Baramulla. These actions are part of an investigation into a conspiracy orchestrated from Pakistan, involving handlers and local Over Ground Workers (OGWs) suspected of aiding infiltrating terrorists.
The raids are connected to a case registered at the Zakoora police station, which the NIA later took over. During the search operations, teams from the NIA were accompanied by local police and security personnel.
Previously, on August 22, the NIA had also conducted searches at ten locations in Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam related to this case. The inquiry began following the arrest of an OGW allegedly linked to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on the night of March 31, who was found in possession of a grenade and live ammunition.
Investigations have revealed connections between operators based in Pakistan and local supporters, who are believed to facilitate communication, logistics, and the movement of terrorists, as well as providing shelter and intelligence support.
The NIA is also probing financial transactions, communication methods, the movement of suspects, and the sources of weapons and explosives to uncover the full extent of the network and its activities.
