London, July 2: After the Indian team’s journey in the Women’s T20 World Cup came to an end, all-rounder Deepti Sharma arrived at the prestigious Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon. At the All England Club in London, Deepti witnessed some of the world’s finest players in action.
Regarded as one of the best all-rounders in women’s cricket, Deepti delivered an impressive performance for the Indian team in the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the team was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Australia in the league stage.
This was Deepti’s first visit to Wimbledon. The All England Club warmly welcomed her during her inaugural trip. The tournament’s official Instagram account posted, “Welcome to Wimbledon, Deepti Sharma.”
Every year, numerous celebrities flock to Wimbledon to watch the world’s top tennis players compete in the year’s third Grand Slam. Deepti is the second Indian cricketer to visit Wimbledon in two days. On Wednesday, former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was spotted at the All England Club’s Centre Court.
On Thursday, top players like Alexandra Eala, Marie Bouzkova, and Emma Navarro secured their spots in the women’s singles semifinals after winning their respective matches.
The 21-year-old Eala from the Philippines achieved a remarkable victory against Maya Joint, winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, and reaching the third round for the first time. With this win, Eala became the first Filipino player to advance to the third round at Wimbledon.
Seeded 21st, Bouzkova bounced back from an early break in the first set to defeat Grant 7-5, 6-3, marking her third appearance in the third round at Wimbledon. Her next match will be against last year’s quarterfinalist, Liudmila Samsonova.
Meanwhile, Navarro, who lost to Bouzkova in the Nottingham final, triumphed over Oksana Selekhmeteva with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, securing her place in the third round at the All England Club for the third consecutive year. Navarro reached the quarterfinals in 2024 and advanced to the fourth round last year.
