New Delhi, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual dialogue with youth and athletes across the country on Thursday as part of the ‘Khelo India Dialogue‘. The event generated significant enthusiasm among the youth in Jammu and Kashmir. Union Minister Jitendra Singh praised the Indian government’s efforts, stating that India’s reputation and that of its youth have significantly increased globally.
During a press conference, Jitendra Singh remarked, “Since Prime Minister Modi took office, most of our initiatives have been youth-centric. He has consistently prioritized women, youth, farmers, and the underprivileged. Regarding the youth, not only have they been encouraged, but PM Modi has also played a crucial role in shifting our mindset away from seeking government jobs. He has shown us that there are various avenues for employment. For instance, the number of startups in the country has surged from just 350 in 2014 to over 230,000 today.”
He continued, “There are numerous schemes available that enable individuals to start their own businesses. Many young street vendors, who were previously overlooked, have benefited from the PM Svanidhi scheme and the Mudra Yojana, with nearly ₹38 lakh crore disbursed, of which around 60% has gone to women. This government has opened up many options for youth across different sectors. When PM Modi speaks of a ‘developed India’, it is these young individuals who will be at the peak of their age and expertise when India celebrates its 100th anniversary of independence in 2047. This is why we see a marked increase in India’s and its youth’s prestige on the global stage.”
Shreya Gupta, an international fencing medalist, expressed her inspiration from the program, stating, “I have seen significant changes in sports over the past 12 years. As a Khelo India athlete, I can say that over 600,000 women are participating through the Asmita League. Other sports are also improving. I believe India will top the medal tally at the 2036 Olympic Games.”
Two-time World Championship medalist Sandeep Singh noted, “PM Modi effectively explained what our government is doing for sports and what is planned for the future. I hope we can host the Olympic Games in our country and that the number of international events increases.”
Atfar from Gulmarg shared, “I am thrilled to be part of this program. PM Modi’s virtual dialogue highlights the importance of sports for us and how we can progress. There are numerous opportunities in sports, and we are grateful for the wonderful opportunities provided by the Prime Minister. This campaign keeps youth away from substance abuse.”
Rizwan Javed from Budgam expressed gratitude, stating, “I feel fortunate to have engaged in dialogue with our PM Modi. I thank my India and the Indian government.”
