New Delhi, August 27: The Indian government’s Ministry of Sports, in collaboration with ‘My India’, organized the Khelo India Dialogue program across the nation. A special event took place at DKV Arts College in Jamnagar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual interaction with athletes and youth.
The primary aim of the program is to encourage young people to engage in sports and connect them with India’s vision for hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympics. The initiative also aims to promote youth participation through sports, contributing to the vision of a ‘Developed India’.
The event particularly emphasized advancing female athletes and young players. Recognition and awards from government departments and sports organizations like KDF, KAEIO, and DSO have significantly boosted enthusiasm for sports among youth, especially girls.
Through the Khelo India Dialogue, young people are not only encouraged to participate in sports but also inspired to actively contribute to the nation’s development and the vision of a developed India.
Divyesh Akbari, MLA from Jamnagar South, stated, “This program inspires youth towards sports. The Prime Minister has communicated with athletes across the country, who are preparing for the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and the Olympics in 2036, which may be hosted in India. Our MP has done commendable work in this program. I wish everyone a happy National Sports Day on August 29.”
The event also featured karate athlete Yashasvi Singh from Jamnagar, who recently won a silver medal at the South Asian Karate Championship held in Bangladesh. After defeating a competitor from Nepal, she faced a tough match against a player from Sri Lanka in the finals. Yashasvi finished just 1-2 points behind, securing the silver medal.
Regarding the event, Yashasvi remarked, “I recently won a silver medal at the South Asian Games in Bangladesh. I am grateful to the Indian government for inspiring athletes.”
Additionally, during PM Modi’s event, Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Sports, was present at IIT Gandhinagar Palaj. He shared that under PM Modi’s leadership, an initiative is underway to encourage numerous athletes and youth to participate in the games. The government is working to develop sports infrastructure not only in Gujarat but across the country.
Volunteer Harsh Mehta from ‘My India’ stated, “PM Modi has inspired the youth of the nation. We are set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and possibly the 2036 Olympics. It is a matter of great pride that Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was present here, inspiring youth about a developed India.”
Para-blind athlete Thakur Khodaji expressed, “I represented India at the Asian Games held in China. Today’s program has inspired athletes, and the Prime Minister urged youth to stay away from addictions. We need to push forward in games where India does not win medals.”
