Prime Minister Modi Inspires Youth in Shahdol Through Khelo India Dialogue

Shahdol, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a virtual dialogue with young athletes across the nation on Thursday as part of the ‘Khelo India Dialogue.’ During this interaction, he encouraged players, emphasizing that their achievements contribute to the identity of their state and city. He also extended his best wishes for National Sports Day to all participants.

The live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s address took place at the Pandit Shambhunath Shukla University in Shahdol. The event saw participation from students, faculty, and the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ram Shankar.

Students and young athletes expressed excitement about the Prime Minister’s dialogue, describing it as an inspiring initiative for advancing in sports. Dr. Ram Shankar remarked that this interaction is a significant step towards changing the long-held belief that education is the sole path to success. He highlighted the crucial role sports play in both physical and mental development.

Dr. Ram Shankar stated, “This ‘Youth Dialogue’ program is a remarkable initiative by the Prime Minister. We must understand that there was an old saying: ‘Study hard, and you will become wealthy; play sports, and you will fail.’ This was a misconception. If you travel abroad, you will see that children excel academically while also performing well in sports. Engaging in sports keeps you physically fit and mentally relaxed.”

Football coach Lakshmi Sai emphasized the importance of the Prime Minister’s dialogue for athletes, stating, “Such programs are essential as every athlete desires to be heard and guided. They need someone who understands their thoughts and aspirations.”

Football player Sania Kunde added, “This dialogue was organized with the Prime Minister’s support, allowing us to share our views. He spoke about sports, and I encourage children my age to focus on athletics. Everyone involved in sports should strive earnestly to advance and compete at higher levels. I want to thank the Prime Minister for this opportunity.”
