Khelo India Dialogue Program: Punjabi University VC and International Wrestler Arundhati Chaudhary Engage with Students

Patiala, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today engaged with youth and athletes across the nation through a virtual platform as part of the ‘Khelo India Dialogue‘ program. He encouraged young people to connect with sports, prioritize fitness, and participate in the ‘Khelo India‘ initiative.

The live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s address was also shown to students at Punjabi University in Patiala. The university’s Vice Chancellor (VC) and international boxer Arundhati Chaudhary attended as the chief guest. Both shared their experiences with students and young athletes, discussing the importance of sports.

The Vice Chancellor stated that programs like ‘Khelo India’ are helping to connect children with sports. Engaging in sports enhances youth fitness and allows them to spend their time on positive activities. He noted that sports can also assist in managing stress and depression, playing a crucial role in keeping youth away from substance abuse.

He emphasized that interest in sports among the youth is rapidly increasing in the country. Over recent years, the sports infrastructure has strengthened, and there has been noticeable improvement in the performance of Indian athletes on the international stage. The provision of job opportunities and awards by both central and state governments has further motivated young people to consider sports as a viable career option.

Arundhati Chaudhary shared her sporting experiences with the students. Hailing from Kota, Rajasthan, she has represented India at the international level, winning medals in the Youth World Championships, Asian competitions, and Junior National events.

Chaudhary inspired the students by stating that whether in victory or defeat, the most important aspect is the continuous effort and determination to move forward. She affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the nation stand with the youth and athletes, urging them to pursue international success with hard work and resolve.

Students from Punjabi University also shared their experiences during the program. B.Tech student Ansul Aluwalia mentioned that the ‘Khelo India Dialogue‘ provided him with insights into the changes in sports and the government’s sports policies.

Meanwhile, university student and NSS volunteer Khushdeep Kaur expressed that hearing about athletes’ struggles, injuries, and life experiences in sports was highly motivating for students. The dedication and determination of athletes serve as an inspiration for the youth.

B.Tech student Gauri noted that she had stopped participating in sports some time ago, but after attending the ‘Khelo India’ program, she felt inspired to reconnect with sports. She emphasized the importance of balancing academics with sports participation.
