Jaisalmer, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to host a three-day event called ‘Dronathon-2026’ starting September 14 at the Pokhran Range, with a focus on swarm technology and electronic warfare.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, the event aims to provide domestic manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their advancements in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS).
The program is designed to allow participants to observe emerging drone and counter-drone technologies, understand their operational performance, and learn from one another. It will feature both static and live demonstrations.
The ministry noted that this initiative would help identify modern solutions and evaluate their combat capabilities. Key areas of focus will include surveillance and reconnaissance, autonomous operations, swarm technology, and electronic warfare.
In line with the national vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), ‘Dronathon-2026’ aims to strengthen the indigenous defense ecosystem by bringing together industry experts, startups, and innovators.
Through such initiatives, the IAF is committed to building a technologically advanced, indigenous, and future-ready military capable of addressing security challenges in an ever-evolving operational environment.
In a separate development, the Southern Command of the Indian Army recently conducted a nearly two-week joint counter-terrorism training program for CISF personnel, aimed at enhancing cooperation and preparedness.
The Southern Command shared on social media that, under the Golden Katar Division, the training took place from August 24 to September 5, improving operational readiness, interoperability, and coordination among different agencies.
Topics covered in the program included counter-terrorism operations in urban and semi-urban areas, small team operations, and coordinated responses in high-risk situations. Participants were also introduced to emerging capabilities through sessions on AI, drone warfare, and counter-UAS strategies.
