Kathua, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic incident unfolded in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday evening when a head constable of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) allegedly opened fire on his colleagues after a heated argument. The shooting resulted in the deaths of four CISF personnel. The local police have taken the accused officer into custody.
According to officials, the shooting occurred around 7 PM at the Service-2 hydroelectric project unit in Basohli. Reports indicate that the confrontation among the CISF members escalated into violence, leading the head constable, who joined the force in 2009, to pull his weapon and fire at his comrades.
The fatalities included four CISF personnel, and following the incident, the head constable was handed over to the police. SSP Mohita Sharma confirmed the deaths of the four officers.
In response to the shooting, the CISF has initiated an internal investigation. Police are currently interrogating the accused to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic event. Initial reports suggest that the incident stemmed from the earlier argument, but the complete reason for the dispute remains unclear.
This incident is not isolated, as there have been previous occurrences involving security and police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir. Just days earlier, on September 23, two police officers were found dead under suspicious circumstances in a vehicle in the Ramban district. The officers, Head Constable Farid Ahmed and Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Yaqub, were discovered unconscious in a car near Jiarat Mor in Batote. Local residents rushed them to the district hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death for the two officers, prompting an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding their demise.
Additionally, a separate case has emerged in Kathua involving the disappearance of a 17-year-old boy, the son of BJP leader and MLA Vijay Kumar. The police have launched a search operation for the teenager, identified as Aditya Kumar, who was last seen boarding a bus to Jammu from his hometown of Hiranagar around 4:15 PM on Tuesday.
