Indian Railways Launches Ticket Checking Drive from October 1 to 31

New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Railways is set to initiate a ticket checking campaign across its Central Railway network from October 1 to 31. This initiative aims to verify discounted tickets, reserved quotas, railway passes, and group bookings.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the ticket checking staff will assess the eligibility of passengers. Those traveling under concessions or quotas will be required to present original identification. Inspections will take place at railway stations and on local trains.

Passengers are encouraged to travel with valid tickets and necessary documents. Cooperation with the ticket checking staff is vital for a smooth travel experience.

The checking staff may use the TTE app to verify tickets, including those that are not reserved. Passengers traveling on discounted tickets or special reservation quotas must carry the designated original identification to prove their eligibility.

Acceptable forms of identification include Aadhar, passport, PAN card, driving license, voter ID, government-issued photo ID, student ID, photo bank passbook, and laminated photo credit cards. Travelers are advised to carry original documents and not rely on photocopies or images stored on their phones.

Passengers with e-passes or Privilege Ticket Orders (PTO) must also present the specified original identification. It is essential to ensure that the e-pass or PTO is properly converted to the necessary “Authority to Travel” before commencing their journey.

Those utilizing group reservations must show the required documents to prove eligibility. When tickets are reserved for multiple individuals, at least one traveler must possess the necessary original identification.

Passengers who fail to demonstrate their eligibility or present the required documents may face action under railway regulations, including the possibility of incurring additional charges.

Following amendments to the ‘Jan Vishwas (Amendments in Provisions) Act, 2026,’ the minimum fine for traveling without a ticket or unauthorized travel has increased from ₹250 to ₹500 since June 20, 2026.
