India to Face Tajikistan in Two Friendly Matches During June FIFA Window

New Delhi, May 26: The Indian men’s football team will compete against Tajikistan in two friendly matches during the FIFA International Match Window in June. This announcement was made by the All India Football Federation on Tuesday.

The matches will take place on June 5 and June 9 at the Hisor Central Stadium in Tajikistan. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 8:30 PM IST.

Currently, the Indian football team is participating in the Unity Cup 2026, a four-nation tournament in London. They will head to Tajikistan after this event. India is set to face Jamaica in the semifinals on May 27, followed by a potential final or third-place playoff against Nigeria or Zimbabwe on May 30. The team will depart from London to Tajikistan on May 31.

These upcoming friendly matches symbolize India’s return to the Hisor Central Stadium. Last year, during the CAFA Nations Cup, the ‘Blue Tigers’ had a memorable campaign at this venue, securing a bronze medal in their debut performance in the Central Asian competition.

A highlight of that campaign was India’s 2-1 victory over Tajikistan at the same stadium, marking the first match under head coach Khalid Jamil.

The AIFF views these friendly matches as a crucial opportunity for the national team. They will provide valuable international experience and help improve team cohesion ahead of future continental competitions and World Cup qualifying matches.

During the June FIFA window, India will face Tajikistan twice. These matches are expected to be a tough test for India against a familiar rival in Central Asian conditions.

India’s schedule during the June FIFA International Match Window:
June 5: Tajikistan vs India (8:30 PM IST)
June 9: Tajikistan vs India (8:30 PM IST)
