New Delhi, July 30: The third season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is set to begin on July 31 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. On Wednesday, all eight franchise captains gathered for an official pre-season press conference to discuss their goals for the tournament.
Organized by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), this month-long T20 league will run until August 30, featuring some of the best cricketing talent from Delhi. Following the player auction earlier this month, franchises have finalized their teams and are eager to start their campaigns.
Anuj Rawat, the new captain of ‘Old Delhi 6’, expressed his excitement about taking on this responsibility. “It is an honor to captain Old Delhi 6. We have built a balanced team with a good mix of experienced and young players. The atmosphere in the league is fantastic, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our home fans. Our goal is to play positive cricket and give our best in every match,” he said.
Ayush Badoni, captain of the ‘South Delhi Superstars’, stated that the players are motivated to make a strong start. “The level of cricket in the DPL has been outstanding, and every team looks strong this season. We have prepared well and are excited to take the field. We hope to entertain the fans and perform consistently throughout the tournament,” he remarked.
Mayank Rawat, captain of the ‘East Delhi Riders’, mentioned that his team is ready for the challenges ahead. “There is tremendous enthusiasm within the team. Every player is motivated, and we are eager to compete against some of Delhi’s best talent. It is going to be a fantastic tournament,” he said.
Ayush Doseja, vice-captain of the reigning champions ‘West Delhi Lions’, shared that winning last season has boosted their confidence. “This season brings new challenges. Every team has strengthened its squad, so we know it won’t be easy. Our focus is on playing good cricket and defending our championship,” he noted.
Siddhant Sharma, captain of the ‘Outer Delhi Warriors’, stated, “The team atmosphere has been great since the auction. Everyone is eager to contribute, and we have worked hard in our preparations. We are excited to start the season and hope to make our supporters proud.”
Yash Dhull, captain of the ‘Central Delhi Kings’, emphasized that the DPL provides a fantastic platform for Delhi’s cricketers to showcase their skills. “We have built a strong team, and our goal is to play fearless cricket while performing consistently throughout the tournament,” he said.
Sarthak Ranjan, captain of the ‘North Delhi Strikers’, noted that the league continues to evolve each season. “The level of competition is improving every year, making it even more exciting. We trust our preparations and are eagerly awaiting the start. Our focus is on playing disciplined and aggressive cricket,” he added.
Himmat Singh, captain of the ‘New Delhi Tigers’, believes fans can expect excellent cricket throughout the tournament. “The DPL has become one of the premier domestic T20 leagues in the country. All teams are well-balanced, and the competition will be fierce. We are eager to start our campaign and provide fans with plenty of reasons to celebrate,” he concluded.
