Jasmine Lamboria Advances to Semifinals, Secures Medal at CWG 2026

Glasgow, July 29: Indian boxer Jasmine Lamboria has made her mark at the Commonwealth Games 2026 by winning her quarterfinal match in the 57 kg category. Competing at SEC Hall-5, she triumphed over England’s Alice Glynn with a score of 4-1, ensuring her place in the semifinals and at least a bronze medal.

In the first round, three out of five judges favored Jasmine, and the trend continued into the second round. By the end of round two, it appeared that the English boxer had exhausted much of her energy, leading to a disappointing performance in the third round, where all judges awarded Jasmine a score of 10-10.

With her advancement to the semifinals, Jasmine has secured a bronze medal under the Commonwealth Games boxing format, as both losing semifinalists receive this honor.

Jasmine is now the ninth Indian boxer to reach the semifinals at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Prior to her, boxers Preeti, Priya, Jadumani Singh, Sakshi, Arundhati Chaudhary, Sachin Siwach, Ankush, and Narendra also secured their spots in the semifinals across various weight categories.

On Tuesday, India confirmed three medals. In the women’s 60 kg quarterfinals, Priya defeated Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell 4-1. Following her, Preeti won against Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde 5-0 in the 54 kg category. Late Tuesday night, Jadumani Singh triumphed over Mwale Mwenya in the men’s 55 kg quarterfinal with a score of 5-0.

In the men’s 60 kg category, Sachin Siwach overcame Botswana’s Treasure Moremi 5-0. Ankush secured his place in the semifinals with a stunning victory over Seychelles’ Jed Mycock in the men’s 80 kg quarterfinals.
