New Delhi, July 30: Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has sharply criticized Ukraine’s recent attacks on several key military and energy sites in Russia. She accused Ukraine of targeting civilian infrastructure to mask its failures.
In a post on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s social media platform ‘X’, Zakharova stated that the Kyiv regime continues its assaults on civilian transport and infrastructure. She claimed that these actions stem from a desire for revenge against the general populace due to increasing failures on the battlefield.
According to the ministry, Zakharova reported that on the morning of July 28, a Ukrainian drone targeted a passenger bus in Shebekino, injuring 19 locals, six of whom are in serious condition. On the same morning, another Ukrainian drone attacked a regular bus in the city of Gorlovka, located in the Donetsk People’s Republic, resulting in five injuries.
She emphasized that the drone operators were clearly aware of their targets and knew they were attacking civilian sites unrelated to the Russian armed forces.
The ministry indicated that Zakharova stated the Ukrainian military commanders who ordered the attacks on passenger buses have deliberately violated international humanitarian law.
She noted that Russia’s investigative committee has classified these attacks as acts of terrorism and has initiated criminal cases against all involved parties. Those responsible will be held accountable. Justice will prevail.
Zakharova condemned the actions taken against civilians by the Kyiv regime and expressed hopes for the swift recovery of all injured individuals. She also called on the international community, relevant international organizations, and independent media to respond openly and clearly to these bloody campaigns by the Ukrainian military.
She warned that silence regarding Kyiv’s alleged crimes would be seen as promoting terrorism and ignoring violations of international humanitarian law during the conflict.
