India Maintains Stable Fuel Prices Amid Political Debate on Premium Petrol

New Delhi, March 21: The political discourse surrounding the rise in premium petrol prices has intensified in India. BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh clarified that there is no shortage of crude oil in the country, emphasizing that sufficient reserves are available.

In an interview with a news agency, he explained that the refining process for premium petrol differs from that of regular petrol. Consequently, fluctuations in premium petrol prices do not directly impact the general public. Typically, the prices of regular petrol and diesel have a more significant effect on daily life, and these prices remain stable at present. Vallabh noted that India has over two months’ worth of crude oil reserves, while many countries worldwide are experiencing rising fuel costs. However, petrol and diesel prices in India are under control.

Prime Minister Modi has engaged in discussions with various nations regarding the US-Israel and Iran conflict, emphasizing peace and de-escalation. Vallabh highlighted India’s diplomatic role in this context.

He stated that PM Narendra Modi has appealed for peace and reduced tensions through dialogue with multiple countries. India has always supported global peace, and the government’s priority is to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Vallabh pointed out that a significant number of Indians work in the Middle East and Gulf nations, and India maintains constant communication with their leaders to ensure their safety. He reiterated that the welfare and security of the 1.4 billion citizens of India are the core objectives of the country’s foreign, economic, and social policies.

Regarding the conflict in West Asia, Vallabh praised Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for his comments. Tharoor remarked that India’s silence on the West Asia issue reflects prudent diplomacy. Vallabh humorously suggested that Tharoor should provide Rahul Gandhi with a ‘tuition’ on foreign policy. He quipped that if Rahul Gandhi is not in Delhi but in Shimla, Tharoor should go there to explain international diplomacy over tea and snacks.

Vallabh also addressed the depreciation of the rupee against the dollar. He acknowledged that geopolitical tensions globally have temporarily pressured the rupee but reassured that India’s economy is fundamentally strong. He expressed confidence that there is no chaos in the economy and that the situation is entirely under control.
