Jodhpur, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) have commenced their bilateral air exercise, ‘Veer Guardian 2026,’ which will take place from September 9 to September 22, 2026, at the Jodhpur Air Force Station.
The IAF announced the event on social media, revealing that two C-2 aircraft from the JASDF have landed at the Jodhpur Air Force Station. This marks the arrival of the Japanese team for the second edition of the exercise.
The IAF emphasized that this exercise aims to enhance coordination, operational cooperation, and mutual understanding between the air forces of both nations. It is expected to strengthen the enduring friendship between India and Japan.
‘Veer Guardian 2026′ is a bilateral aerial warfare exercise that follows a successful inaugural edition. This time, both countries will showcase their aerial capabilities and strategies.
Established on July 1, 1954, the JASDF is the air and space branch of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Its primary responsibilities include defending and monitoring Japanese airspace, as well as conducting electronic and cyber warfare operations. The JASDF comprises several key commands, including the Air Defense Command and the Air Support Command. Notably, it has also created a Space Operations Wing to protect its assets in space.
This exercise reflects the growing defense collaboration between India and Japan and reinforces both nations’ commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
