New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest outside the MCD building in New Delhi on Sunday night, responding to a tragic incident at Satya Niketan. The group issued a 24-hour ultimatum for action from authorities.
ABVP activists have been assisting victims at the accident site and have expanded their demonstrations across various colleges and campuses of Delhi University. They demand accountability from the administration regarding student safety and are calling for the suspension of the Delhi MCD commissioner. With the rallying cry “No More Satya Niketan,” ABVP has made it clear that no compromise on student safety will be tolerated.
Protests have taken place at numerous institutions, including Hansraj College, Hindu College, and Kirori Mal College, among others. ABVP members are advocating for a comprehensive investigation into the Satya Niketan incident and demanding strict action against those responsible for negligence, including PG operators and building owners.
The organization insists on a high-level and impartial investigation into the tragedy, along with immediate structural and safety audits of PG accommodations and rental buildings in student-populated areas. They will not accept any negligence from the administration regarding student safety.
The slogan “No More Satya Niketan” represents a commitment to ensuring safe housing for students. The ABVP plans to continue its movement until those responsible are held accountable and effective measures are implemented to prevent future incidents.
Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, ABVP’s national general secretary, stated, “After the tragic event at Satya Niketan, our activists are actively supporting affected students and demanding action against the culprits. Today, ABVP members are sitting in protest across various colleges to ensure student safety. Those responsible for this tragedy due to MCD’s negligence must be held accountable. Our commitment to ‘No More Satya Niketan’ is clear: no student should be forced to live in unsafe conditions.”
Sarthak Sharma, Delhi ABVP state minister, added, “The tragedy in Satya Niketan has exposed serious administrative negligence. Those responsible can no longer hide behind excuses. How long will this negligence towards student safety continue? The Delhi government must identify the culprits and take immediate action to ensure effective safety measures in all student areas.”
