Hyderabad, June 26: On the final day of the group stage matches in the Rugby Premier League 2026, the Hyderabad Heroes secured their top position on the points table by defeating the Kolkata Banga Tigers 28-0.
At the Gachibowli-based Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium, the Heroes launched a swift attack from the outset, effectively spreading the Tigers’ defense across the field. Sumit Roy initiated the scoring within minutes, followed by Raovama Seruvakula, who doubled Hyderabad’s lead with a clever dummy move on the left wing.
Their precise passing and ability to exploit open spaces continued to trouble Kolkata in the second quarter. After applying consistent pressure, Kevin Wekesa broke through the defense to score another try. Morris Longbottom maintained the momentum at the start of the third quarter, while Hyderabad’s disciplined defense denied the Tigers any significant opportunities, achieving a remarkable shutout.
Later in the day, the Chennai Bulls will face the Mumbai Dreamers, while the Delhi Reds will take on the Bengaluru Bravehearts in the final match.
Earlier, on the 10th day of the event, the Delhi Reds secured an easy 40-28 victory over the Kolkata Banga Tigers, although they failed to qualify for the semifinals. The Reds started strong, patiently building their attacks, with Nigel Amita breaking through the defense to score first. Samuel Asati and Joseph Seres quickly added tries, while Hitesh Dagar extended their lead.
The Reds maintained possession and dominance on the field. Despite the semifinal hopes hanging in the balance, the Kolkata Banga Tigers attempted a comeback before halftime through Vuiviva Naduwalo.
After the break, Seres scored again, but Naduwalo nearly single-handedly brought the Tigers back into contention with two impressive tries at the end of the third quarter. John Okeo reinforced Delhi’s position in the final quarter, while Naduwalo showcased another magical moment; however, the Reds held their composure to secure a crucial victory in the closing moments.
