Dharamshala, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The India-A women’s cricket team made a strong start in their unofficial Test match against Australia-A, scoring 351 runs for the loss of nine wickets on the first day at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. Key performances came from Shubha Satish, Tanisha Singh, and Niki Prasad.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, the Indian side enjoyed a solid opening partnership. Shubha Satish and Priya Punia put together a 102-run stand for the first wicket. Priya scored 46 runs, hitting eight boundaries before her dismissal. However, the team faced early setbacks, losing four wickets by the time the score reached 120. Shubha contributed 59 runs, including ten fours, before departing.
After the early wickets, Anushka Sharma stabilized the innings alongside Tanisha Singh, adding 82 runs for the fifth wicket. Anushka scored 44 runs with four fours and a six before being dismissed. Tanisha continued to build on the momentum, forming a crucial 111-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Niki Prasad, pushing the team’s total past 300.
Tanisha was dismissed for 92 runs, hitting 12 boundaries, which marked the sixth wicket. Niki Prasad ended the day unbeaten on 78 runs, having struck 11 fours and two sixes.
From the Australian side, Lily Mills and Charlie Knott took three wickets each, while Tess Flintoff, Millie Illingworth, and Frankie Nicklin claimed one wicket each.
Under the captaincy of wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, the Indian team comprised players such as Shubha Satish, Priya Punia, Anushka Sharma, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasbunis, Niki Prasad, Shuchi Upadhyay, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, and Shabnam Mohammad Shakeel.
The Australia-A lineup featured captain Rachel Trenaman, wicketkeeper Tahliya Wilson, Courtney Webb, Charlie Knott, Anika Liroyd, Nicole Faltum, Tess Flintoff, Siana Ginger, Millie Illingworth, Lily Mills, and Frankie Nicklin.
