Rampur, March 19: A new HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign has been launched in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, focusing on the health of women and adolescent girls. The initiative was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Deepa Singh, who cut the ribbon at the vaccination room in the district hospital.

Under this program, girls aged 14 will receive the vaccine for free, helping to protect them from future cervical cancer. This significant health initiative coincides with the government’s nine-year anniversary.

Health department officials reported that the vaccine had undergone initial trials, with participating girls indicating no side effects, confirming its safety and efficacy. It is now being rolled out on a larger scale, currently administered as a single dose.

CMO Deepa Singh emphasized the importance of the vaccine for all girls aged 14 to 15, stating it is highly effective in preventing cervical cancer during reproductive years. She mentioned that the vaccine will be available daily at the district hospital, with plans to expand access to Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) after Eid. Singh described this initiative as a vital and beneficial step for the community.

Girls receiving the vaccine reported feeling well after their shots, expressing that the vaccination is crucial for preventing cervical cancer and encouraging all girls to get vaccinated to safeguard their health.
