The initiative is part of the company’s broader effort to upgrade education in more than 76 government schools across RAJASTHAN through modern facilities and technology. The labs have been established in collaboration with the Society for All Round Development and aim to transform science and technology education in rural areas.

At the inauguration, Udaipur District Education Officer Lokesh Bharti said that curiosity is essential for learning and that the initiative would help nurture scientific thinking among students. He added that learning through play and experimentation would strengthen students’ academic foundations.

Kurabad Block CBEO Meena Sharma said that access to modern tools boosts the confidence of rural students and encourages them to dream big and work towards achieving their goals.

Three immersive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) labs have been set up with the objective of promoting experiential and technology-enabled learning in government schools. These include Government Senior Secondary School, Bichhadi; Government Senior Secondary School, Dabok; Zinc Smelter Senior Secondary School, Debari; and a Government Girls Inter College in Udaipur.

Each lab is equipped with advanced digital tools, refurbished infrastructure and immersive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. The facilities are designed to make science learning engaging, accessible and future-ready.

The STEM labs have been developed as immersive innovation hubs that combine modern infrastructure with cutting-edge educational technology. Features include upgraded lighting and furniture, interactive murals under the ‘building as learning aid’ concept, AI-enabled interactive flat panels with access to over 5,000 digital learning modules, and advanced VR headsets and AR simulations to simplify complex concepts. The classrooms have also been refurbished with improved interiors to create a more engaging learning environment.

Along with infrastructure development, teachers are being provided training to ensure effective use of the new technology and improved classroom delivery.

Through its CSR initiatives, Hindustan Zinc continues to work in the fields of education, healthcare, women empowerment and environment protection. The company is currently impacting the lives of nearly 23 lakh people across more than 2,300 villages.
