Mumbai, April 6: Mumbai police have achieved a significant success by arresting a serial molester within just a few hours. The accused, Munawwar Nasir Khan, works in Film City and is alleged to have molested women on the streets.
According to senior officer Ravindra Avhad from Bangur Nagar police station, the incident occurred on the night of March 30 around 9:30 PM. A young woman was returning home when the accused approached her from behind and inappropriately touched her. Following the incident, he fled the scene.
The victim promptly filed a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station. Taking the matter seriously, the police reviewed footage from 29 CCTV cameras in the area to identify the suspect. Through continuous technical investigation and teamwork, they managed to locate and arrest the accused within 48 hours.
Police reports indicate that the accused resides in Aarey Colony and has been involved in similar incidents previously. After his arrest, multiple cases were registered against him under various sections of the law.
The Bangur Nagar police stated that the entire operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officials. They confirmed that further questioning of the accused is ongoing and strict legal action will be taken against him.
In another case, the Chembur police station has registered a complaint against a former municipal councilor for allegedly using a fake caste certificate to contest elections, thereby deceiving both the government and the public.
Based on a complaint, Chembur police have charged former councilor Ramesh Kamble with forgery, fraud, and criminal breach of trust. The accused has been identified as Ramesh Suresh Kamble, who previously served as a councilor for Ward Number 192 (Borla North-Deonar Slaughterhouse).
