Congress MP Kumari Selja Criticizes BJPs Communal Agenda Ahead of Kerala Elections

Thiruvananthapuram, April 6: Congress MP Kumari Selja accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to communalize society during a campaign event in Kochi on Sunday. She labeled the BJP-led central government as a “government of slogans” and raised concerns about issues affecting fishermen and human-animal conflicts in Kerala.

Selja stated that the BJP consistently seeks to promote communalism, which she claims is their defining characteristic. “If they are so good at development, why don’t they talk about it? What have they actually done?” she questioned.

She further alleged that the BJP invents new slogans while forgetting the old ones, emphasizing that their governance is limited to rhetoric and speeches.

Additionally, Selja accused the BJP of bribing voters, asserting that a visit to North India would reveal the truth about their communal tactics, vote acquisition strategies, and pre-election monetary incentives.

The Congress MP highlighted that opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is advocating for genuine development. She noted Gandhi’s strong connection to Kerala, as the state has sent him and party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to Parliament.

During her discussion, Selja identified human-animal conflict and fishermen’s issues as critical topics for the upcoming elections. She pointed out the challenges posed by natural disasters and climate change. “When we talk about human-animal conflict, we face issues like elephant attacks, snake bites, and loss of lives,” she explained. Villages near forests often suffer from elephant incursions, leading to fatalities, citing the recent death of a resident near Kochi.

Selja emphasized the importance of how the government addresses these ongoing conflicts, asserting that it is crucial for the government to alleviate these problems for the common people.

She criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala for failing to tackle these issues effectively.
