Health Ministry Launches Swachhta Hi Seva 2026 Campaign in New Delhi

New Delhi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a special cleanliness drive in New Delhi on October 1, as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva 2026’ initiative. The event took place near Gate Number 3 of Kartavya Bhawan-1 on Dr. Rajendra Prasad Marg.

Dr. Rajiv Bahal, Secretary of the Health Research Department and Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), led the campaign. Several senior officials and employees from the ministry participated enthusiastically in the cleanliness efforts.

Among those present were Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Additional Secretary and Director General of the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), and Dr. Lownish G. Krishna, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), along with numerous other staff members.

Participants engaged in the theme of “One Day, One Hour, Together,” demonstrating a strong spirit of collective effort. They cleaned the area with brooms in hand, spreading the message of cleanliness.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Bahal emphasized that cleanliness is not a one-day task but a continuous collective effort. He urged all officials and citizens to actively contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Aradhana Patnaik highlighted the importance of public participation in promoting cleanliness. She stated that individual responsibility and active involvement are essential for creating healthy public spaces. Every citizen must take on the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness consistently.

This cleanliness drive is part of the larger ‘Swachhta Hi Seva 2026’ campaign, aimed at strengthening community participation and encouraging citizens across the country to actively engage in cleanliness efforts.

The ministry stressed that maintaining cleanliness over the long term is not solely the responsibility of the government or institutions; it requires a collective commitment from society. Continuous public involvement and collective action at the community level are essential for this cause.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reaffirmed its commitment to the goals of ‘Swachh Bharat’ (Clean India), noting the deep connection between cleanliness, public health, and a healthy lifestyle. They emphasized the necessity of ongoing awareness, responsible waste management, and active citizen participation to create clean, healthy, and sustainable public spaces.
