G. Kishan Reddy to Participate in Cleanliness is Service Campaign in New Delhi

New Delhi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, will take part in a community service event as part of the ‘Cleanliness is Service-2026’ campaign. This event is scheduled for Thursday at Yashwant Place, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

During the event, Reddy will engage with officials, staff, and sanitation workers involved in cleanliness activities. The one-hour collective effort aims to unite participants in a shared commitment to maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. This initiative is expected to enhance public participation and foster a sense of collective responsibility for a clean and green environment.

As part of this extensive cleanliness campaign, the Ministry of Mines has adopted a park at GPOA-3 in Netaji Nagar, New Delhi. The plan includes landscaping, beautification, and improvements to the area. The goal is to develop this designated space into a clean, green, and well-organized public area while promoting sustainable practices and a stronger sense of ownership among the community.

Additionally, the minister will inaugurate an e-waste collection stall at GPOA-3. This initiative under the ‘Cleanliness is Service-2026′ campaign aims to facilitate the collection of discarded electronic and electrical devices. It encourages officials and staff to adopt proper e-waste disposal methods, raising awareness about the importance of e-waste segregation, collection, and authorized recycling.

The e-waste collection drive will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. During this period, participants will be encouraged to bring their unwanted electronic devices to designated collection centers. The collected e-waste will be sent for proper recycling and scientific processing through authorized channels.

A key objective of this initiative is to highlight the resource value of e-waste, particularly the recovery potential of critical minerals and other valuable materials. Various materials found in electronic and electrical products can be recovered through proper recycling and processing. This recovery can contribute to resource efficiency, reduce dependence on natural materials, and support the principles of a circular economy.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Mines’ broader efforts to promote responsible resource use, the functionality of the circular economy, and the recovery of critical minerals from secondary sources. By linking cleanliness with responsible e-waste management and resource recovery, this campaign aims to encourage sustainable practices in daily life.

The Ministry of Mines continues to implement various activities under the ‘Cleanliness is Service-2026’ initiative, emphasizing cleanliness, waste management, environmental sustainability, and citizen participation. The initiatives launched at Yashwant Place and GPOA-3 will further strengthen the ministry’s commitment to fostering a sustainable collective effort toward a cleaner, greener, and more resource-efficient future.
