Rahul Gandhis Visit to Balaghat Sparks Political Controversy

Balaghat, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : In Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit on Thursday to meet families affected by the tragic deaths of tribal children due to severe illness. However, his upcoming visit has drawn sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has labeled it a political stunt.

Minister Vishwas Sarang of the Madhya Pradesh government criticized Gandhi, asserting that his visit should have a meaningful purpose rather than simply serving as a platform for political gain. “Gandhi can come, but he should speak about substantive issues. It is inappropriate to visit merely for political advantage,” Sarang stated.

He further remarked on Gandhi’s past, recalling an incident during his visit to Indore where he allegedly disrespected the term “mother.” Sarang expressed concern that Gandhi’s travels often undermine the dignity of the nation. “Wherever he goes, he tarnishes the reputation of our country. In India, he targets constitutional institutions during his visits,” he added.

Sarang accused Gandhi of creating chaos and sensational news. He emphasized that as the leader of the largest democracy, Gandhi should exhibit maturity in his political conduct. “Politics cannot be conducted through childish behavior and scripted speeches. It is not appropriate to politicize tragedies,” he asserted.

Additionally, BJP’s state co-in-charge Rekha Verma also criticized Gandhi, stating that his visit to the Naxal-affected area of Balaghat is possible only because the BJP government has successfully eradicated Naxalism from the region. “During the Congress government, there were numerous incidents where not a single Congress leader reached out to the victims. Our government has made the area safe, allowing opposition leaders to visit now,” she remarked.
