Chandigarh, June 2: In a significant move to modernize Haryana’s revenue administration and strengthen institutional capacity, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the establishment of the ‘Haryana Revenue Training Academy’ in Umri, Kurukshetra district.
The project is estimated to cost around ₹100 crore and will be developed on 14 acres of land. It is expected to serve as the state’s primary training center for revenue officials and grassroots officers.
Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Sumita Mishra stated on Tuesday that this academy will play a crucial role in enhancing the professional capabilities of revenue officials and preparing them to tackle emerging challenges in land administration, disaster management, and public service delivery.
This decision follows a comprehensive exercise by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to identify a suitable site for the academy, as announced in the Haryana Budget for 2026-27. After evaluating various proposals from Kurukshetra district, the government selected the Umri Gram Panchayat as the most suitable location for the project.
Mishra noted that the proposed site in Umri offers significant logistical advantages and administrative benefits. Located on National Highway 44, the land is well-connected to all parts of Haryana and neighboring states. It is also situated approximately two kilometers from the mini-secretariat and tehsil complex, ensuring easy access to major administrative offices and government departments.
The Haryana Revenue Training Academy is envisioned as a state-of-the-art institution dedicated to training revenue officials, patwaris, kanungo, and other grassroots officers. The academy will focus on modern land administration practices, digitization of land records, revenue laws, dispute resolution mechanisms, land acquisition processes, disaster management, and emerging challenges in public administration.
This institution is expected to emerge as a center of excellence for professional training and capacity building, contributing to improved efficiency, transparency, and accountability in revenue administration across Haryana.
As the backbone of the state’s administrative system, the revenue department plays a vital role in land administration, revenue management, disaster response, and the delivery of citizen services.
