Sagar, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : The death toll from toxic alcohol consumption in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, has risen to ten. Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda confirmed that several shops linked to the incident have been sealed. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the fatalities.
Speaking to reporters, Devda stated, “All senior officials have arrived on the scene. Instructions have been given to ensure that anyone accountable for these deaths faces severe consequences. Multiple shops have already been sealed, and the search for those involved continues.”
The government is also arranging medical treatment for individuals currently ill due to the consumption of the toxic substance. Devda reiterated the commitment to hold the culprits accountable.
Minister Prahlad Singh Patel expressed his condolences, calling the situation “tragic” and underscoring the need for strong condemnation of such incidents. He assured that strict measures would be enacted against those responsible.
Collector Pratibha Pal informed the media that reports of methyl alcohol consumption emerged from two villages, Nauroja and Dogra Khurd, in the Bunda police jurisdiction. The administration became aware of the situation around 4:30 AM. So far, ten individuals have been identified as deceased, and post-mortem reports are forthcoming.
Pal noted that efforts are focused on ensuring no additional residents from these villages are suffering from similar ailments. A medical team is conducting screenings on-site, with the SDM and other officials present. The collector emphasized the priority of identifying anyone exhibiting symptoms and promptly sending them to Bundelkhand Medical College for further examination.
