Bhopal, August 9: In a significant breakthrough, police in Gwalior have arrested four suspects involved in a jewelry store theft that occurred on July 19-20. The authorities recovered approximately 5 kilograms of silver, including silver idols and jewelry, from the accused.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing 30 kilograms of brass from a shop in the Gola Ka Mandir area and an Activa scooter from the Padhav area. They also admitted to committing a theft at a jewelry shop in Hyderabad. The police suspect these individuals may be linked to other thefts in Gwalior and neighboring states, prompting ongoing investigations.
The theft at the jewelry store was executed after the suspects stole a red Activa scooter from the Motimahal area. Following the heist, the suspects fled to various locations, including Bhopal, Ujjain, Nagpur, and Hyderabad.
Acting on a tip-off, police first apprehended two brothers, Chhotu alias Yogesh and Golu alias Rajesh Mandeliya. Based on their information, two additional suspects, Atul Sharma and Shyam Sundar Kushwaha, were also arrested. Atul Sharma is originally from Bhind, while the others are residents of Gwalior.
The police seized 5 kilograms of silver, six mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the suspects. During questioning, they revealed that they had stolen 3 kilograms of silver and 200 grams of gold from a jewelry shop in Hyderabad on August 1. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to interrogate the suspects.
