
Gandhinagar, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The Gujarat Assembly is set to commence its three-day session on September 9, 2026. This session will launch with the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative, where all 182 legislators will participate in a tree-planting campaign. The assembly session will begin with an environmental focus.
The campaign will kick off after the inauguration of the disaster management facility known as ‘Bheeshm Cube,’ located next to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, cabinet members, and all legislators have been invited to join the initiative.
The ninth session of the 15th Gujarat Assembly will take place from September 9 to September 11. The session’s dates were recently altered by the Governor, who shifted the schedule from September 8-10 to the current dates while maintaining the three-day duration.
Prior to this session, the Business Advisory Committee discussed the bills and decisions to be addressed. Government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani confirmed that the meeting was chaired by Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rushikesh Patel, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, senior minister Kunvarji Bavaliya, and leaders of the Congress party.
Vaghani noted that the committee reviewed legislative matters and expressed condolences for the recent deaths of former and current legislators.
Among the bills to be considered are the Gujarat Agricultural University Amendment Bill, 2026, the Natural Agriculture Science University Amendment Bill, 2026, the Gujarat Rent Bill, 2026, and the Gujarat Livestock Feed, Poultry, Grain, and Mineral Mixture Production, Storage, Distribution, Sale, and Quality Control Regulation Bill, 2026.
Additional bills include the Gujarat Land Revenue Amendment Bill, 2026, the Gujarat Agricultural Land Fragmentation and Consolidation Prevention Amendment Bill, 2026, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Amendment Bill, 2026, the Gujarat Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, and the Gujarat Goods and Services Amendment Bill, 2026.
Vaghani explained that some of the proposed laws are amendments, while others are new bills. The final order and timing will be announced by the Speaker in the assembly. The tree-planting initiative is regarded as the third phase of the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ campaign, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day 2024. The campaign aims to encourage individuals to plant trees in honor of their mothers.
To achieve the set goals across the state, this initiative will run from 2026 to 2027. The primary objective is to inspire community participation while enhancing local greenery and fostering discussions about environmental awareness.
