Chennai, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Tamil Nadu‘s Chief Minister, Vijay, will lead an important meeting on Wednesday aimed at forming a new political alliance. The gathering will take place at 4 PM at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, near Chennai. Representatives from parties supporting the government, including Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), are expected to attend.
The Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which provide external support to the government, have also been invited. However, both parties are anticipated to stay away from the meeting as they are not formal members of the proposed alliance.
The process to establish this new coalition began on July 1 in a hotel in Kovalam, Chennai, where initial discussions took place. The aforementioned parties participated in that meeting, discussing a rough framework for political coordination. The leftist parties did not attend that round either, citing their role as external supporters.
The upcoming meeting is expected to advance discussions beyond initial talks and provide formal recognition to the proposed alliance. Leaders are likely to finalize the coalition’s name and consider organizational arrangements for political and administrative coordination.
It is anticipated that Chief Minister Vijay will be chosen as the leader of the alliance. The participating parties may also discuss the formation of coordinator and deputy coordinator roles and identify leaders for these positions.
This meeting is seen as a crucial step in bringing together parties supporting the TVK government onto a shared political platform. While Congress, VCK, MDMK, and IUML are likely to become formal allies, the stance of CPI and CPI (M) suggests that the leftist parties may continue to maintain their organizational independence while providing external support.
