Trishuli, August 29: The situation in Trishuli, Nepal, has deteriorated significantly following devastating floods. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with teams working tirelessly to evacuate individuals from affected areas and provide essential assistance.
Dinesh, a flood victim, shared his painful experience. “We have lived in Trishuli for 17 years. We owned a scrap business, and our warehouse has collapsed. Two of my brothers are missing, and we have not been able to contact them. On August 26, we called them and warned them to flee, as we were near the China border where the water was coming from. We still have no contact,” he recounted.
Another woman affected by the floods described the urgency of their escape. “We received a warning to head towards Bidur. We were told the water levels were rising. The water had come up significantly here. The police prevented us from leaving and sent us back. Our entire family lived and slept in this house. We barely managed to reach higher ground, but when the water came, we couldn’t even retrieve our belongings,” she said.
Meanwhile, ASI Rahul Sunar of the Nepal Police provided updates on the rescue operations. “We are conducting rescue operations here in Nuwakot. So far, we have not found any survivors or bodies. Our main focus is to clear the roads. We are also rescuing people from their homes. We do not know how long the rescue operation will continue. It is still ongoing, and we cannot predict when it will be completed,” he stated.
As rescue efforts continue in Trishuli, many families are searching for their missing loved ones. Those who lost everything in the floods are seeking refuge in higher areas. Police and rescue teams are going door-to-door to evacuate individuals and clear debris from the roads to facilitate aid delivery.
