
Gopalganj, August 29: A tragic accident occurred in Gopalganj district, Bihar, on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of four workers due to asphyxiation inside a septic tank. The incident took place in the village of Sawani Gopal under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police station. The village is currently in mourning following this devastating event.
Upon receiving news of the incident, administrative and police officials rushed to the scene to initiate rescue operations. Reports indicate that a septic tank was under construction in the village. On Saturday, the workers were engaged in removing the shuttering from inside the tank when one worker suddenly became trapped. In an attempt to rescue him, three other workers entered the tank one after the other. Shortly thereafter, all four workers lost consciousness inside.
It is suspected that the workers died due to toxic gas accumulation within the tank. Following the incident, officials conducted a rescue operation, and after considerable effort, the bodies of all four workers were retrieved from the septic tank.
The deceased have been identified as Bunty Baitha alias Rakesh, Javed Alam alias Tipu, Umesh Yadav, and Shabe Alam. The news of their deaths has caused an uproar among the families of the victims. A large crowd gathered at the site, as all deceased were residents of the same village. The administration has taken the incident seriously and has ordered an investigation into the causes of the accident.
The investigation team will examine not only the reasons behind the incident but also the safety standards followed during the construction work. Authorities are working to determine whether the necessary precautions for the workers’ safety were taken before they entered the septic tank.
