Governor Mangubhai Patel Advocates Sensitive Implementation of Tribal Recommendations

Bhopal, April 29: Governor Mangubhai Patel emphasized the need for sensitive implementation of suggestions and recommendations received during the tribal workshop. He stated that tribal welfare is a top priority for the government. Strict adherence to the guidelines and directions for tribal empowerment must be ensured. Effective coordination among various departments related to tribal development is crucial.

Governor Patel chaired a meeting with the Tribal Affairs Department at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday. He highlighted the importance of utilizing the allocated budget for tribal empowerment in a targeted manner. Funds should be spent solely for their intended purposes.

He also stressed the need for more intensive efforts to understand the ground realities of tribal development initiatives through field visits. Madhya Pradesh has the largest tribal population in the country, and it is essential that development and welfare efforts in different regions are more focused. The innovations in tribal education, health, and employment from tribal-dominated states should be studied in the context of the state’s needs and adopted accordingly.

Patel pointed out that sensitivity is paramount in welfare efforts for marginalized communities. Initiatives driven by empathy yield positive results. He called for greater sensitivity and proactivity from public representatives and government officials in tribal welfare efforts. The selection of eligible beneficiaries, effective implementation of schemes, and proper utilization of budgetary allocations must be handled with increased accountability. Strict action should be taken against negligence in fulfilling these responsibilities.

He asserted that education paves the way for progress. The role of education in empowering tribal communities is vital. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the availability of teachers in schools located in tribal areas. Monitoring and evaluation of teachers and educational quality should be conducted through the PESA monitoring committee.

During the meeting, Gulshan Bamra, Principal Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department, provided detailed information about the recommendations from the tribal sub-plan workshop held on April 16 and 17.

The meeting at Lok Bhavan’s Jawahar Block conference hall was attended by Tribal Cell Chairman Deepak Khandekar, the Governor’s Deputy Secretary Sunil Dubey, Commissioner and Director of the Tribal Affairs Department Dr. Satyendra Singh, members of the Tribal Affairs Department, and officials from Lok Bhavan.
