New Delhi, July 31 (H.S.): Central government employees and pensioners may soon receive a festive gift, as the government is expected to announce a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) before Raksha Bandhan. According to reports, the Modi government may increase the DA by 3%, raising it from the current 55% to 58%.

Final Revision Under 7th Pay Commission
This upcoming revision will be the final one under the 7th Pay Commission. DA adjustments are based on the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI). The government determines DA hikes using the 12-month average CPI, adjusting salaries according to inflation and cost of living.
Expected Announcement in July 2025
Sources suggest that the government may announce a 3% hike in DA for July 2025. If implemented, the revised DA is expected to be disbursed by October. The DA is revised twice a year, benefiting both current employees and pensioners.
No Official Notification Yet
While there is no official confirmation from the government so far, financial experts and employee unions widely anticipate the 3% hike. The increase will directly impact the total salary received by central government employees.
For example, if an employee’s basic salary is ₹10,000 and the DA is 55%, they currently receive ₹5,500 as DA. With a revision to 58%, the DA amount would increase to ₹5,800.
