Nagpur, August 29: Four out of 106 tourists stranded in Nepal have safely returned to Nagpur. Many expressed disbelief at their safe return. They extended their gratitude to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, local authorities, and the Indian Ambassador in Nepal for their assistance during the crisis. The tourists reported that damaged roads and bridges due to a disaster had left them trapped.
One tourist shared, “We didn’t expect to return alive. We lacked some documents, but the administration was incredibly helpful. They quickly arranged our paperwork. We then flew to Delhi and from there to Nagpur. We are thankful for the support during our ordeal.”
They recounted that when the disaster struck, they were unaware of the severity of the situation as they were inside a location with no visibility. “We were a total of 106 people. Our trip was planned for ten days, with two days for travel and eight days for stay.”
Another tourist mentioned, “All our relatives made it back safely, which is very important. The Chief Minister and local people provided significant help. We even booked our flight tickets from here.”
Deepak Pandey noted, “We managed well for seven to eight days. However, the police later stopped us. The disaster had caused road damage and destroyed bridges. The ground beneath us was unstable. We had a patient with us who needed emergency care, and people helped us book tickets and reassured us that everything would be fine. The Indian Ambassador in Nepal also assisted us. Initially, we just wanted to get home safely. We will also thank the government.”
Varsha Upadhyay stated, “We traveled to Pokhara and stayed there for two days before heading to Kathmandu. After staying in Kathmandu for four to five days, this incident occurred, and we were terrified. Speaking with the Chief Minister gave us courage, and we were no longer afraid. His support provided us with some comfort.”
