
New Delhi, August 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan starting Saturday. Ahead of his trip, he shared a heartwarming video on the social media platform X. In the video, students from Uzbekistan express their admiration for him and show their eagerness to welcome him in Tashkent.
The students can be seen saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welcome to the land of Tashkent. We are looking forward to your arrival.” Some students also highlight the bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan.
Prime Minister Modi is traveling to Kyrgyz Republic to attend the 26th SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1, 2026. He will be on a state visit to Tashkent from August 29 to 30 at the invitation of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This marks Prime Minister Modi’s fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
During his visit, he will engage in delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations. The leaders will review cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, defense, digital connectivity, energy, education, and people-to-people relations, and set an agenda for the future.
They will also share views on advancing the shared development goals of a developed India and Uzbekistan-2030. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Center at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
At the invitation of His Excellency Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Prime Minister Modi will travel from Tashkent to Bishkek to participate in the 26th SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1. This summit is being held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
India has been a full member of this organization since 2017. Prime Minister Modi will address the summit, highlighting India’s priorities related to security, connectivity, and opportunities. He will also hold bilateral meetings with SCO leaders during the summit. Furthermore, he will participate in the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games, celebrating Central Asia’s rich cultural heritage.
