
New Delhi, July 2: General Dheeraj Seth, the newly appointed Chief of the Indian Army, met with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the Ministry of Defense in New Delhi on Thursday. This marks their first meeting since General Seth took over as Army Chief.
During the meeting, the Defense Minister congratulated General Seth on his new responsibilities. Discussions are expected to cover critical topics such as the current operational readiness of the Indian Army, security situations along the borders, modernization of the armed forces, promotion of indigenous defense systems, and strategies to tackle future challenges.
General Seth recently assumed command of the Indian Army and presented his vision, titled ‘Vijay,’ on Wednesday. His goal is to equip the Indian Army with cutting-edge technology, preparing it for future challenges and ensuring effective operations in multi-domain warfare.
He has emphasized the extensive use of modern technologies within the army, the expansion of AI-based capabilities, encouragement of the indigenous defense industry, promotion of self-reliance, and strengthening joint operations among the three armed forces. His guiding mantra is ‘Jai Se Vijay,’ symbolizing the elevation of military capability through unity, self-reliance, and innovation.
This courtesy meeting at the Ministry of Defense comes at a time when India is rapidly modernizing its military capabilities. There is a strong focus on comprehensive modernization of the armed forces in response to the changing global security landscape. General Dheeraj Seth, prior to this role, served as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff. He officially took over command on June 30, 2026, following the retirement of the previous Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM. General Seth has played crucial roles in various capacities, from operations in desert regions to counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Upon taking office, he expressed pride and humility in leading the Indian Army, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the principles of duty, honor, and nation first, vowing to give his best for the nation’s security.
