
Vienna, July 2: Indian Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran engaged with schoolchildren in Vienna by reading Panchatantra stories, highlighting the growing cultural ties between India and Austria.
The Indian Embassy has also published a German translation of the Panchatantra for Austrian schoolchildren. A video shows the embassy staff narrating the stories, while the children listen attentively. Ambassador Kumaran took photos with the students, creating memorable moments.
On social media platform X, the Indian Embassy stated, “Gurukul Diplomacy.” Ambassador Kumaran shared Panchatantra tales with schoolchildren in Vienna. The embassy recently published the German translation for these children.
According to a publication from the Indian Embassy in Austria, the German edition introduces selected Panchatantra stories to young readers through colorful illustrations by Austrian cartoonist Klaus Peter.
Earlier in June, the Indian Embassy launched the next chapter of “Geschichten aus dem Panchatantra,” a new video podcast series created by renowned Austrian podcaster Thomas Brezina, featuring Panchatantra stories narrated in German for children.
The Indian Embassy posted on X, “Bringing the timeless wisdom of Panchatantra to Austria through digital storytelling. Based on excellent collaboration with Stadt Wien and local schools, the Indian Embassy proudly launched the next chapter of ‘Geschichten aus dem Panchatantra.’ This new video podcast series by famous Austrian podcaster Thomas Brezina narrates enduring Panchatantra stories in German.”
The launch event saw over fifty enthusiastic students from a Vienna school gather. Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran read selected stories and engaged in lively discussions with the children, who eagerly shared their favorite characters and lessons learned.
In early April, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker visited India on an official tour. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Modi to discuss deepening collaboration in areas such as innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability. PM Modi expressed confidence that the partnership between India and Austria would become even more “innovation-centric and future-ready.”
PM Modi posted on X, “Had a very good conversation with Chancellor Stocker of Austria. We are happy that he chose India as his first destination outside Europe after taking office. This reflects his vision and commitment to India-Austria relations. Notably, this is the first visit by an Austrian Chancellor in four decades. His visit also comes after the historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement, which has opened a new chapter in India-EU relations.”
He added, “In our discussions today, we talked about ways to deepen cooperation in areas like innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability. We are committed to adding new energy to trade and investment linkages. Sectors such as defense, semiconductors, futuristic technology, and startups offer great potential for close ties. I am confident that the India-Austria partnership will become even more innovation-centric and future-ready.”
