BJP Leader Targets Rahul Gandhi with Controversial Posters in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 2: BJP leader Tajinder Bagga has launched a campaign against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi by putting up posters in New Delhi. These posters label Gandhi as “Mafiaveer” following his apology in a defamation case linked to the son of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The posters depict Rahul Gandhi in a posture of apology. One side features an image of influencer Ori with the caption “I AM ORI,” while the other shows Rahul Gandhi with the phrase “I AM SORRY.”

Additionally, the posters reference the legal apology recently issued to Karthikey Chouhan, the minister’s son.

Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga shared this provocative post on his social media platform, X, stating, “Mafiaveer Rahul Gandhi.”

This controversy traces back to comments made by Rahul Gandhi during a 2018 election rally in Madhya Pradesh. According to Karthikey Singh’s complaint, Gandhi mentioned his name while discussing the Panama Papers scandal, which allegedly harmed Singh’s reputation.

Following the complaint, a court in Bhopal issued a summons to Rahul Gandhi for hearings related to cases involving MPs and MLAs. In response, the Congress leader approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court to quash both the summons and the defamation proceedings.

In his petition to the High Court, Gandhi asserted that the comments in question were not directed at Karthikey Singh. He also expressed regret regarding the statement that led to the defamation case.

The High Court subsequently instructed the termination of the criminal defamation proceedings after Rahul Gandhi submitted a written apology, which Karthikey accepted. However, the BJP has continued to attack Rahul Gandhi, branding him as “Mafiaveer.”
