Gautam Buddh Nagar Schools Adjust Timings Amid Heat Wave Concerns

New Delhi, April 27: In response to the rising temperatures and severe heat wave conditions, the District Basic Education Officer’s office has issued a directive to modify school operating hours. This order was released late Sunday night.

According to the directive from the District Magistrate, all government, private, and recognized schools, including CBSE, ICSE, IB, and UP Board institutions, will now conduct classes from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

However, the late-night announcement did not reach schools in time on Monday morning. As a result, parents and students faced significant confusion. Many schools began classes at the old timings despite the new order.

Parents expressed frustration over the lack of timely communication from the administration. One parent stated, “Our children are young, and we had no idea about the new timings in this heat. When we arrived at school, we learned about the change, but even the school administration was uncertain.”

The order issued by District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar emphasized that the change in schedule was made with the health of children in mind, given the extreme temperatures and heat wave. Copies of the order were sent to the District Magistrate, Chief Development Officer, Additional District Magistrate (Administration), City Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, District School Inspector, District Information Officer, and all Block Education Officers.

Despite this, the failure in administrative communication has caused difficulties for parents and students. Experts warn that temperatures may continue to rise in the coming days, making it essential to ensure compliance with the new timings. Parents have requested that the administration provide timely notifications of such changes via WhatsApp, SMS, or through schools in the future.
