Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Destroys Over ₹5 Crore Worth of Narcotics

Greater Noida, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police have destroyed approximately 972.283 kilograms of narcotics, valued at over ₹5.23 crore. This action was carried out under the direction of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, following court orders.

The police stated that the initiative, dubbed “Operation Dahan,” is aimed at the proper disposal of seized narcotics in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On September 8, 2026, under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Narcotics, drugs from 253 cases across six police stations were disposed of through an authorized agency.

The largest quantity destroyed was cannabis, with about 907.622 kilograms estimated to be worth around ₹4.53 crore. Additionally, 63.75 kilograms of opium, 0.552 kilograms of hashish, 0.115 kilograms of cocaine, 0.004 kilograms of MDMA, and 240 narcotic tablets were also included in the destruction efforts.

At Sector 39 police station, 24.47 kilograms of cannabis, 1.25 kilograms of opium, and 240 grams of narcotic tablets were destroyed from 15 cases. In Sector 126, 67.696 kilograms of cannabis, 372 grams of hashish, 15 grams of cocaine, and 4 grams of MDMA were disposed of from 30 cases.

The Sector 113 police station reported the destruction of 74.135 kilograms of cannabis from 53 cases, while Sector 63 saw 108.141 kilograms of cannabis destroyed from 57 cases. The largest quantities were found in cases from Badalpur police station, where 630.88 kilograms of cannabis, 62.5 kilograms of opium, 180 grams of hashish, and 100 grams of cocaine were disposed of from 97 cases.

Additionally, 2.3 kilograms of cannabis from a case at Rabupura police station were also destroyed. The police emphasized that this operation aims to dispose of seized narcotics safely and in compliance with court orders to prevent unnecessary storage of confiscated items. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the fight against drug trafficking and illegal trade.
