New Delhi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The North District Cyber Police in New Delhi has arrested a 22-year-old man for misusing a young woman’s photos to create explicit images and videos using AI technology. According to police reports, the accused was an acquaintance of the victim and acted out of personal grudge.
The victim filed a complaint at the North District Cyber Police Station, stating that her images had been manipulated to produce AI-generated obscene content. She received messages from several fake Instagram accounts, informing her that her altered images and videos were being circulated on Discord servers.
In her complaint, the victim reported not only the sharing of objectionable material but also receiving threatening messages. Given the seriousness of the situation, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation. A team led by Sub-Inspector Hanshul Gupta and Head Constable Sunny was formed, supervised by Inspector Rohit Gehlot and ACP Operations Vishal Dhattarwal.
During the investigation, police conducted a thorough technical analysis of the fake social media profiles, email IDs, and digital activities. They discovered multiple interconnected Instagram accounts, Discord profiles, and Gmail IDs allegedly used for creating and disseminating the explicit content.
Based on technical evidence, police arrested Keshav Bansal, a resident of East Punjabi Bagh in Delhi and a former B.Tech student in Electronics and Communication Engineering. During questioning, Bansal admitted to knowing the victim from college and revealed that their relationship had soured, prompting him to seek revenge for perceived slights. He confessed to obtaining images from the victim’s private Instagram account, using AI to create explicit photos, and uploading them to anonymous Discord servers.
The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly created several fake Instagram, Discord, and Facebook accounts, utilizing various Gmail IDs for anonymous activities. He misused photos obtained from the victim’s Instagram to generate obscene images with AI tools and shared additional explicit content created by other users on anonymous platforms.
Police have seized a mobile phone, two SIM cards, and digital evidence related to the case. Forensic analysis of the confiscated devices is underway to trace the entire digital network and activities. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if any other individuals were involved in this disturbing incident.
