Gang War Erupts Over Illegal Coal Trade in Dhanbad, Three Seriously Injured

Dhanbad, May 28: A violent clash has erupted in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, over control of the illegal coal trade. Late Wednesday night, gunfire broke out between two groups in the Kailudih ground area of the Katras police station jurisdiction, resulting in three individuals suffering serious injuries. The incident has created a tense atmosphere throughout the region.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the shooting occurred around 1 AM. Armed assailants arrived in a Scorpio vehicle and opened fire near the Kailudih mosque. In response, members of the opposing group retaliated with their own gunfire.

Approximately 50 rounds were exchanged, causing panic in the area. Among the injured are Mohammad Tausif and Nitish Kumar Yadav, while the identity of a third victim is still being determined. All injured individuals were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical.

In light of the incident’s sensitivity, the Dhanbad police acted swiftly. Upon receiving the report, Baghmara SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal, Katras police station chief Praveen Kumar, and Circle Inspector Mohammad Rustam arrived at the scene with a heavy police presence. Officers from several nearby police stations were also deployed to control the situation.

Given the prevailing tension, police patrols in the Kailudih and Chhatabad areas have been intensified, with a significant number of armed forces stationed there. Forensic and investigative teams are currently collecting shell casings and other crucial evidence from the scene.

Police officials have stated that operations to apprehend criminals involved in the illegal coal trade have commenced, and arrests are expected soon.
