Mumbai, June 3: The controversy surrounding actor Ranveer Singh’s exit from Farhan Akhtar’s film ‘Don 3′ has taken a new turn. On Wednesday, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced in a press conference that it has decided to withdraw the non-cooperation directive against Singh, effective immediately, in response to requests from various organizations.
On Tuesday, Singh sent a legal notice to FWICE regarding the non-cooperation directive issued against him. Following this, FWICE held a press conference where key officials, including CINTAA General Secretary Upasana Singh, IFTDA President Ashok Pandit, and FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey, were present.
During the press conference, Ashok Pandit stated, “CINTAA, IMPPA, and the Producers Guild sent us written requests to withdraw the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. Considering the appeals from these responsible organizations and in the interest of the film industry and its members, we have decided to retract the non-cooperation directive immediately.”
Pandit further read an official statement, saying, “We are taking this step entirely in goodwill. IMPPA has assured us that a serious and constructive discussion will take place with all concerned parties regarding this issue. Our aim is to find a solution as soon as possible that is amicable, fair, and beneficial for all.”
He also clarified that they do not have the legal authority to completely ban any artist; they can only appeal for non-cooperation.
FWICE General Secretary Ashok Dubey emphasized during the press conference, “I want to make it clear that we have withdrawn the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh at everyone’s request. We have assured that we will work with the producers’ organization to reach a fair and balanced decision. This will ensure that neither the producer, director, nor the actor faces any issues.”
Dubey justified the initial hard stance, stating, “If we hadn’t taken a tough approach initially, we wouldn’t have reached this point of dialogue today. We have retracted our decision to resolve this matter. There are no winners or losers in this situation. Regarding the legal notice sent by Ranveer Singh, our legal department is reviewing it, and we will comply with the law.”
During the press conference, Ashok Pandit appealed to Ranveer Singh, saying, “We urge Ranveer Singh to come to us and engage in dialogue. A solution can surely be found through conversation. The entire film industry is our shared family. We want him to become an even bigger star and elevate the status of the Indian film industry worldwide.”
