Liverpool, July 1: English football club Liverpool has signed French defender Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais in Ligue 1.
The Premier League club reached an agreement for the 20-year-old player in January and has now secured him on a five-year contract at Anfield, with an option for an additional 12 months pending international clearance. Jacquet is expected to be available for pre-season after missing the end of his previous campaign in France due to a shoulder injury.
After joining Liverpool, Jacquet expressed his excitement, stating that it feels like a dream come true.
According to Liverpool’s official website, he said, “I am very happy. When I look at the facilities, I can see myself here. I feel good, and I am very excited to get started. This is a big dream for me; it’s a huge club. Joining a big club like Liverpool feels like a dream come true.”
Jacquet’s journey from the youth ranks at Rennes to the Premier League with Liverpool has been remarkable. After making his debut for Rennes in January 2024, he spent the following 12 months on loan at fellow French team Clermont Foot to gain experience. This loan deal ended in 2025 when his parent club decided they wanted to benefit from his talent directly. Jacquet previously showcased his skills during the Under-19 European Championship in Northern Ireland in the summer of 2024, where he was a starter for France. The team reached the finals, finishing as runners-up to Spain.
