Four Arrested for Attacking Forest Officials in Madhya Pradesh

Indore, June 14: In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police have arrested four individuals within hours of an attack on forest department personnel during an anti-encroachment operation.

The arrests were made in connection with an incident in the village of Bheel Amala, where a group of villagers allegedly assaulted government officials, damaged public property, and obstructed government operations aimed at removing encroachments on forest land.

According to police, the action was taken under the direction of Superintendent of Police Puneet Gahlot. Following the incident, multiple police teams conducted raids in the village and surrounding areas, leading to the immediate arrest of four suspects: Shivam Dabar (24), Vishal Bundela (26), Mansaram (50), and Dhannalal Bamaniya (50).

A police officer stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the violence. He mentioned that the suspects were arrested just hours after the incident, and teams have been deployed to search for the remaining suspects. He further emphasized that strict action would be taken against all those involved in attacking government employees and damaging public property.

The incident occurred on June 13 when forest department officials and staff arrived in Bheel Amala village to remove alleged encroachments from forest land. During the operation, a group of approximately 20 to 25 villagers reportedly gathered at the site to protest the action.

The mob allegedly attacked officials with sticks, rods, and stones, resulting in injuries to five forest department employees, who were subsequently taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The attackers also reportedly vandalized government vehicles and a JCB machine deployed for the encroachment removal, causing significant damage.

Upon receiving reports of the violence, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Singh Bais, Kamalapur Station House Officer Manoj Singh, and Bijwara Outpost In-Charge Vinay Singh Baghel arrived at the scene with police personnel to bring the situation under control.

A case has been registered at the Kamalapur police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Act to Prevent Damage to Public Property. Police have indicated that further investigations are ongoing, and additional arrests are likely as efforts to identify all individuals involved in the attack continue.
