
Mohali, February 17: A bomb threat received via email at Fortis Hospital in Mohali led to a comprehensive security sweep of the campus on Tuesday. Authorities reported no suspicious items were found during the operation. Mohali’s Superintendent of Police, Dilpreet Singh, confirmed the situation is under control.
The threatening email was received around 8 AM on an official school email account. According to SP Singh, the message indicated an intention to target Fortis Hospital. In response, police headquarters, the range office, and the anti-sabotage teams, along with bomb disposal units, were dispatched to the hospital immediately.
For safety reasons, all nearby schools were thoroughly checked due to the email’s origin. This was done to ensure the safety of students and staff. After the extensive search, no suspicious objects or materials were discovered. SP Singh stated that the threat appears to be a hoax and reassured the public that the situation is fully under control.
The investigation into the source of the email is ongoing. Singh urged the public to maintain calm and cooperate with authorities. He also requested that any suspicious activities be reported to the nearest police station promptly.
The bomb threat caused significant alarm; however, investigations have revealed it to be false. The police are actively looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is currently hospitalized at Fortis Hospital. He underwent a routine health check on February 16, which included a full clinical examination and standard diagnostic tests. All vital parameters are reported to be within normal limits.
Regarding the CM’s health, it was noted that he felt fatigued and was admitted for monitoring and supportive care. His condition is stable, and he remains under the care of the medical team.
