Gangtok, April 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Sikkim for a two-day visit. On Sunday, he held a grand mega roadshow in Gangtok, transforming the entire city into a vibrant celebration.
During the visit, Bimal Kumar Rai, president of the Akhil Kirat Rai Sangh, expressed enthusiasm in a conversation, stating, “We are extremely excited and hope he blesses us again tomorrow. It brings us great joy to welcome the Prime Minister of India. We are advocating for a tribal system in the Indian state, which we have already presented to the Sikkim government. We hope the state government will raise this demand before the Prime Minister, and I am confident he will grant us the right to speak.”
Bimal Kumar added, “In the last 50 years, Sikkim has made remarkable progress in economic, social, and educational development. We have gained numerous intellectual resources. Everything has changed, from the behavior of the people living in the state to the overall quality of life. Our city has achieved the status of an independent state. Over these 50 years, there has been a significant transformation in the standard of living in this state.”
K.G. Namgyal, president of the Lal Bazaar Youth Development Committee, remarked, “We thank our ADMLA and our chief patron, Lakma Moktan, for giving us the opportunity to come here and do our work. We are very happy that our Prime Minister is visiting Sikkim, and we hope he will pay attention to our people and our region, addressing many of our issues promptly. We face challenges with roads, infrastructure, electricity, and water supply. There is also an LPG crisis. Therefore, we hope these issues will be resolved soon.”
Namgyal further stated, “As the Prime Minister of India, we have high expectations from him. We hope he will do good work for Sikkim. We are eagerly waiting for this. Sikkim is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.”
