Jammu, March 7: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect in Jammu and Kashmir. Empowered women running small businesses expressed gratitude towards the Narendra Modi government for its support in fostering women’s initiatives and contributing to national development.
Women shared that opportunities were scarce in the past, but now they have better platforms to pursue their dreams. The startup sector in India is rapidly advancing. Whether it’s handicrafts, Basohli paintings, Basohli shawls, Khadi, jute-related work, or any other enterprise, the government is welcoming and encouraging all such efforts.
Prabha Khurana, associated with the Women Development Corporation, expressed her gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “There has been a significant change in the status of women today. Women are starting their own businesses and holding government positions. The current government is working towards empowering women. Today, women are excited and happy to launch their startups. They are managing both home and work effectively.”
Nazma, who runs a small business, emphasized the importance of women advancing in every field. “It is essential for women to keep working, whether the task is big or small. This was not the case in Jammu and Kashmir before. Since the government has implemented schemes for women’s welfare, girls are now going out to study, and women are stepping out to earn for their families,” she stated.
Sushma from the Women Development Corporation shared her experience, saying that before starting her own business, she was known by her husband’s name. “Now that I have established my own work, people recognize me for my contributions. I urge every woman to not let their skills fade away and to create their own identity with the government’s support,” she added.
Manisha, who works with Pashmina shawls and paintings, also noted the significant assistance provided by the government. She highlighted that the initiatives have accelerated the wave of women’s empowerment in the country. “Women’s work is no longer confined to the kitchen; they must play a full role in advancing the nation,” she concluded.
