New Delhi, April 1: The Eighth Pay Commission is set to meet with government employees and wage earners soon to discuss key issues related to the proposed salary increase.
A significant meeting is scheduled for April 24 in Dehradun, where representatives from employee unions, pensioner associations, and other stakeholders will present their views on salary structure, allowances, and pension-related matters to the members of the Eighth Pay Commission.
To better understand the challenges faced by employees and wage earners, commission members will tour various parts of the country and hold similar meetings. Based on the feedback received from these meetings, the commission will determine the extent of future adjustments to salaries, pensions, and benefits.
The commission has stated that any group wishing to share their views must request an appointment in advance.
A notice issued on March 30 read, “A team from the Eighth Pay Commission will visit Dehradun, Uttarakhand on April 24. Interested parties, including organizations/institutions of the central government and unions, who wish to engage with the commission in Dehradun, should submit their appointment requests by April 10.”
Following this, the commission will inform selected participants about the exact location and time of the meeting. The statement noted, “Details about the location and meeting schedule will be communicated later.”
Anyone interested in participating in the Eighth Pay Commission meeting must send a request via email by April 10. Only those who apply before this deadline will be considered for the meeting.
Afterward, the commission will review the requests and notify selected participants about the precise location and time. All official details and updates regarding the process are available on the commission’s website.
Employee unions, pensioner associations, organizations, and even individuals can submit their views on salary, allowances, pensions, and other service-related issues.
The commission has created an online portal where people can submit their suggestions in the form of memorandums until April 30.
The deadline for submitting these suggestions is April 30. After this date, the commission will review all feedback received from meetings and written submissions before preparing its recommendations.
Over 11 million central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting signs of the swift implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission. The commission has been given an 18-month deadline to submit its report.
